Lingnan “Ellen” Chen is a former TV journalist covering the United States Congress and local news in the D.C. metro region. She previously produced the morning newscast, reported, and anchored for KTSF News Channel 26 in the San Francisco Bay Area.

A daughter of two medical school graduates, Ellen has an inborn spirit of serving the public. Her passion in news reporting dates back to her junior high period. 

Ellen was born and raised in Guangdong Province of mainland China. Her first visit to the U.S. was at the age of 18, when she started college in Austin, TX. She earned her Bachelor’s degree at The University of Texas at Austin and later obtained her Master’s degree at Columbia Journalism School.

She loves baking, learning new languages, volunteering, and collecting mugs. Music of Pink Martini and Toshinobu Kubota is her favorite.

Ellen was filming footage in the background of a House of Representatives Committee on Rules hearing, where fiery discussions on the two articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump took place. (Dec. 17, 2019)
